History
Anbagam is a blessed legacy that began 50 years ago, in 1975, at Thirunindravur as a day care centre for elderly people, founded as a free center to serve and care for seniors. This noble initiative was started by Bishop Rt. Rev. Lesley Newbigin, guided by the teaching of the Ten Commandments: “Honour your father and your mother”, reflecting Christ’s callto love and care for the aged.
After Thirunindravur, the Home was shifted to Zion Church, Chintadripet, before relocating on April 9, 1979, to Adyar, in a more spacious building with better facilities Anbagam continued its mission for over 30 years at Adyar, and in the past 20 years, it transitioned to a nominal fee-based model, welcoming pensioners, retired mission workers, and elders from other faiths while maintaining its commitment to compassionate care.
